    • Clients who do not provide any notice (no call, no show).
    • Cancellations with less than 24 hours' notice.
    • Clients who arrive more than 20 minutes late for their appointment.
  • Penalties or Fees: The policy follows the same 3-strike rule as the cancellation policy:

  • Grace Period or Warning System: Clients will receive a copy of your policies at each offense as a reminder. Additionally, clients will be made aware of this policy before their first visit and during annual updates of our policies and procedures.

Aggressive Pets

Aggressive Dog Policy:

  • Definition of an "Aggressive" Dog: An "aggressive" dog is defined as any dog that attempts to use their teeth during any part of their grooming session.

  • Safety Measures: To ensure the safety of both staff and pets when dealing with aggressive dogs, the salon takes the following precautions:
    • Owners are asked to inform the salon of any history of aggression or behavioral issues.
    • Muzzles, e-collars, and various restraint methods are used to keep pets safe and controlled.
    • Every effort is made to use the least amount of restraint possible and encourage pets to build their confidence and trust during grooming.
  • Additional Charges: If behavior issues require the use of restraints, safety devices, additional time, or additional staff to safely complete the service, additional fees will apply.

Shaggy to Chic reserves the right to refuse service to any pet who presents a safety risk to themselves, our staff or other pets in our salon.

Vaccine policy

For the health and safety of all pets in our care, we ask that pets remain up to date on required vaccines. In lieu of vaccines, we are happy to accept a titer test dated within 6 months of your pet's initial visit and will require updated titer tests annually. Please note the following guidelines:

  • We do not accept vaccinations without dates or vaccines not on official veterinarian letterheads or records.
  • Vaccines given at home are not accepted.

Your commitment to ensuring the well-being and safety of all pets in our salon is appreciated.

Parasites

Parasite Policy:

  • Checking for Parasites: Pets will undergo a thorough check for parasites during their grooming services.
  • Handling Pets with Parasites:
    • Pets found to have parasites will receive a flea/tick bath and be sent home until they have been treated.
    • Pet owners are encouraged to consider using parasite preventatives, especially due to the prevalence of ticks in your area. Yuma ticks can & do carry a risk for tick borne illness.
  • Additional Fees: Additional fees will apply for the flea/tick bath and the necessary cleaning of the salon when a pet is found to have fleas/ticks.

Shaggy to Chic reserves the right to refuse service to pets who present a health risk to other pets in our salon.

Sanitation Policy & Procedures

Sanitation Policy:

  • Sanitation Procedures: Our salon follows a three-step cleaning process - cleaning, disinfecting, and sanitizing - to maintain a clean and safe environment.
  • Frequency of Cleaning: The salon and equipment are thoroughly cleaned, disinfected, and sanitized on a daily basis to prevent the transmission of zoonotic diseases and illnesses.
  • Additional Fes: Clients are encouraged to ensure their pets have had adequate opportunities to relieve themselves before their appointments and to withhold food on the day of their visit to prevent accidents. Additionally, pet owners whose pets show signs of communicable diseases/illnesses within 24-48 hours of their scheduled visit are asked to keep their pets home until they are recovered. Any pets who relieve themselves during the grooming process more than once or show signs of communicable illness such as coughing, diarrhea, vomiting etc, will be sent home immediately and charged an additional fee to ensure the salon is properly cleansed, disinfected and sanitized in order to prevent the transmission of communicable illness.

Matting

Matting Policy:

  • Definition and Assessment of Matting: Matting is defined as hair that is clumped together due to a lack of maintenance at home between professional visits, which cannot be easily worked through with a comb and brush and requires the use of mat splitters or removal of the coat.

  • Options for Clients with Heavily Matted Pets:
    • Clients will be informed as soon as matting is found in their pets.
    • Owners will be given the option to pick up their pets to attempt dematting at home.
    • If dematting is not feasible or in the pet's best interest, their pets will be shaved short, following a "humanity before vanity" policy.
    • Clients are held accountable for the condition of their pets as they have read and agreed to these policies when using your services.

  • Additional Charges for Dematting Services: There is a charge of $1 per minute for any time spent dematting or removing a matted coat, up to $30. Any pet that requires more than 30 additional minutes of dematting will be shaved short. This fee covers the additional time and equipment wear and tear associated with safely removing matting.

This policy promotes the well-being and comfort of the pets while also addressing the practical challenges of dematting. By using our services, you agree to these terms.

Double COated Dogs

Double Coated Dog Shaving Policy:

  • Recommendation for Shaving: Shaving of double-coated breeds is not recommended due to the risk of clipper alopecia, which can lead to improper coat regrowth.
  • Client Education: Clients with double-coated breeds will be verbally informed of the risks associated with shaving before their visits, especially if that is what they are requesting. The salon aims to advise and persuade proper grooming methods, but if the owner fully understands the risks and still wishes to proceed with shaving, the service will be provided.
  • Waivers: Owners of double-coated breeds who want their dogs shaved will be asked to sign a waiver stating that they are fully aware of the risks and agree to proceed with the shaving despite the potential consequences.

This policy emphasizes the importance of client education and informed decision-making regarding the grooming of double-coated breeds. The waiver helps document the client's understanding and agreement with the chosen grooming method.

Senior & Fragile Pets

Senior Pets or Pets with Health Issues Policy:

  • Accommodations for Special Needs: The salon provides a low-stress, safe, and calm environment for senior pets and pets with health issues. A "comfort groom" approach is taken, prioritizing cleanliness and comfort over achieving a perfect haircut. These pets will not be pushed beyond their stress thresholds.

  • Precautions and Considerations:
    • Staff members are trained in pet CPR and first aid.
    • Continuous monitoring for signs of distress is conducted during grooming, with immediate action taken if distress is observed.
    • The salon cannot be held accountable for pre-existing conditions, as we are not veterinarians and not able to ascertain what is happening with the pet internally.

  • Veterinary Documentation: Owners are asked to ensure that senior pets are under the care of a veterinarian and should be conscientious about whether their pet can handle grooming in a salon. If it's deemed safer, a recommendation may be made for a mobile groomer. Yearly waivers acknowledging the associated risks are required.

This policy prioritizes the well-being and comfort of senior and medically fragile pets, emphasizing safety and informed decision-making by owners.

Puppies

Puppy Policy:

  • Definition of "Puppies": Puppies are defined as dogs under 1 year old.

  • Grooming Requirements and Restrictions:
    • Puppies should start with a professional groomer once their puppy vaccinations are complete.
    • Full grooms are not recommended until they have had at least 3 visits to help them become confident in the grooming salon environment.

  • Creating a Positive Experience:
    • The salon offers a puppy introduction package for $100.
    • Puppies come weekly for short grooming sessions where various aspects of grooming are introduced positively and in a controlled manner.
    • The final visit includes a full "groom" to build confidence and trust for a lifetime of positive grooming experiences.

This policy reflects a proactive approach to introducing puppies to grooming in a positive and gentle manner, emphasizing their well-being and long-term comfort during grooming sessions.
